STANLEY XU RUIYANG

Stanley Xu Ruiyang is a filmmaker from Singapore. Drawing inspirations from his observations of everyday life, he hopes to explore and capture the nuances of the human condition using moving images. In 2015, he directed his first proper short film BLK 401 for the ciNE65 III short film competition. It was awarded the Best Editing award for the student category, as well as nominee for other categories including Best Film and Audience Favourite. The film was also mentioned by Defence Minister Dr Eng Ng Hen on his Facebook as one of his favourite film among the ciNE65 entries that year.

Subsequently, he went on to direct two more short films, Lullaby and Mother with the support from organisations such as Honour Singapore, Temasek Holdings and mm2 Entertainment. Lullaby was selected for several international film festivals, most notably the 36th Hawaii International Film Festival and the 5th Singapore Chinese Film Festival. Mother also premiered at the 20th Vancouver Asian Film Festival, as well as selected to compete at the 22nd Caminhos Film Festival in Portugal, and the 5th Silk Road International Film Festival in Ireland.
