Michael started acting during his students days, performing sobbing stories to recruit freshmen to volunteer in welfare homes. He is mostly remembered for his role as the warrant officer in “Hentak Kaki” and the karung-guni father in “Gift” that garner 1 million and 30 million hits online respectively. He is also the winner of the Best Performance Award at the 3rd and 5th Singapore Short Film Awards (2012 and 2014).
He also acted in “Ilo Ilo”, directed by Anthony Chen, which is the winner of the Camera d’Or award, 2013 Cannes Film Festival 50th Golden Horse Awards 2014.
In 2015, he acted as the lead character in a feature film “Certified Dead”, directed by Marrie Lee, aka Cleopatra Wong.
Michael’s screenplays and productions include short films like:
– “The Next Plot” (2016)
– “Bloodline Blues” (2018).
Currently, he is producing a screenplay he has written into a feature film.
