DEBRA TENG

Debra Teng is an Pan Asian actress/corporate trainer/roleplayer based in Singapore.

A veteran actress, she has been acting since she was a child, starting in children’s television productions with Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC, predecessor of Television Corporation of Singapore & Mediacorp Singapore), and also in numerous theatre, film and television productions. She has taken on leading roles in various theatre and film projects, giving her the opportunity to perform on stages, and shoot in cities in Hungary, China, New York, Germany, Japan, India, London, Thailand and Malaysia.

She is grateful to be the first recipient for the British Chevening (Raffles) Scholarship for the Performing Arts, receiving a full scholarship for her Post Graduate Acting Training at London’s prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2001.

As an undergraduate and student, she had won numerous awards in the performing arts, including Best Actress Awards and Merit Award for Directing. She won an Excellent Performer Award in Japan in Toyama in 1997 during the Theatre Festival for her theatrical performance in Who Sells The Best Medicine?

She was nominated for Best Actress Award in New York TV Awards in 2000, for her work in Singapore’s first telemovie shot on film, Or Else, The Lightning God, which had also received numerous nominations in Asian TV Awards.

She is an architect by training, and is also a (rescue) SCUBA diver, conservationist, rockclimber, dancer, gymnast and yoga practitioner.

Debra is a much sought after corporate trainer/facilitator/roleplayer with various UK and US based corporations. She had worked as a Senior Consultant, with aAdvantage Consulting locally, and, as Associate Partner with The Gallup Organisation, regionally.

Debra is an ambassador for Shark Guardians, a UK-based charity for marine conservation, and is also a volunteer for Sisters’ Island Marine Park. She is currently working on a personal project on Sexual Harassment.
