BOBAN JAMES

I’m a people photographer based out of Singapore, specializing in lifestyle, fashion, corporate and editorial portrait photography.

I think I get the photography gene from my mother. She used to have this old Agfa rangefinder at home and hundreds of pictures loosely stored in plastic bags piled one on top of the other. Some afternoons when friends used to visit, we’d just sit and pore through these pictures, marvelling at (or more often laughing at) the outrageous fashions from the ’70s. My eye would be drawn to the cars and the look of that era and fascinated, I would go back again and again to look at these pictures.

I love being a photographer and if there’s such a thing as rebirth, would only ask that I be reborn as a photographer (preferably with a Leica or two).Having spent several years plotting my escape out of corporate jobs, I see being a photographer as a calling and this is a privilege I don’t wear lightly.

My work has been published in BLLNR magazine, Vogue India, Conde Nast Traveller India, The Hindu, Gulf News, Times of India, Deccan Chronicle and Entrepreneur Magazine.

I’m available in Singapore and the region for actor headshots, corporate portraits, editorial and environmental assignments and of course for commercial advertising photography.
